ADGP Jammu Lauds ZPHQ-IIT Jammu Collaboration in Cyber Security

JAMMU, Nov 14: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, IPS, today praised the collaborative efforts between Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) Jammu and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu at a Hackathon focused on cyber security and cyber hygiene. The event gathered police officials and students to explore innovative technological solutions for enhancing law enforcement capabilities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Hackathon addressed crucial challenges faced by the J&K Police, including cybercrime and terrorism, aiming to strengthen public safety and law enforcement through advanced technological applications. Speaking to participants, ADGP Jain emphasized the increasing importance of technology in modern policing, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. He highlighted that the unique security needs of Jammu and Kashmir require innovative and specialized solutions due to the region's geopolitical sensitivities.
"The integration of cutting-edge technology in policing is no longer a choice but a necessity," ADGP Jain stated. "This Hackathon presents an incredible opportunity for young minds to develop practical solutions that can significantly impact the security landscape of Jammu and Kashmir and beyond." He encouraged participants to think creatively, stressing that their contributions could shape the future of law enforcement in the region.
Acknowledging the efforts of IIT Jammu and the J&K Police, ADGP Jain noted that the event fosters a platform for collaboration between academic and law enforcement communities to improve community safety. The event was attended by notable figures, including Col. Virinder Singh (Retd.), Registrar of IIT Jammu; Abhay Sharma, Dean of Education and Outreach at IIT Jammu; DIG JKS Range Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS; SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, and senior faculty members and police staff.
The Hackathon serves as a testament to the growing synergy between academia and law enforcement in Jammu and Kashmir, working together to build innovative solutions for a safer community.
