JAMMU, Nov 16: The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences held its first Alumni Meet today, a memorable gathering that re-united past graduates, faculty, and current students. Under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Jain, the event aimed to strengthen the department's community, celebrate alumni achievements, and create meaningful networking opportunities. Around 25 alumni and more than 100 participants attended this special event.
The meet began with a warm welcome address by the Head of the Department, Dr. Kamlesh Kumar, followed by a nostalgic video montage showcasing alumni memories. Inspiring keynote addresses were delivered by esteemed faculty members, including Dr.Akshay Kumar, Dr.Princy Gupta, and Dr. Sujata Kundan. The event continued with vibrant cultural performances featuring dances, songs, and poetry recitation by students from the 7th and 9th semesters, adding energy and spirit to the occasion.
A key highlight was the alumni panel discussion, where former students shared experiences, insights, and advice on careers in chemistry and related fields. Videos from alumni currently pursuing studies abroad or in other states added a heartfelt touch, as they reminisced about their time in the department. This exchange offered students valuable perspectives, motivating them to explore diverse career pathways.
The meet concluded with a networking lunch, giving alumni, students, and faculty a chance to connect on a personal level. Dr. Tapta Kanchan Roy, faculty member and event coordinator, delivered a formal vote of thanks on behalf of the department, expressing appreciation for the event's success. Overall, the inaugural Alumni Meet fostered a strong sense of community, marking the start of a tradition that promises to enrich the department's legacy and support the future careers of its students.
