Opening Ceremony of district Jammu Taekwondo Championships held

Jammu, Nov 16: The 27th District Jammu Taekwondo Championships 2024-25 commenced with great enthusiasm at the Indoor Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, under the aegis of the J&K Taekwondo Association and the J&K Sports Council. Organized by the Taekwondo Association of District Jammu, the two-day event, held on 13th and 14th November 2024, witnessed the participation of around 250 players from various schools and clubs across District Jammu. Athletes competed across multiple age groups, including Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, and Senior categories.
The opening ceremony was graced by Ms. Ritika Salathia, Manager of Indoor Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, as the Chief Guest, who inaugurated the championship and encouraged the participants to showcase their best skills.
The championship was spearheaded by Mr. Ramesh Chander Sharma (President, Taekwondo Association of District Jammu) and Mr. Amit Gupta (Secretary, Taekwondo Association of District Jammu), with Mr. Burhan Ud Din Khan (Executive Member, JKTA) serving as the Observer, appointed by the J&K Taekwondo Association to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
The organizing committee, led by Organizing Secretary Mr. Anuj Sharma, ensured the seamless execution of the championship with the support of a dedicated technical team. The team included Tashi Tundup, Amit Kumar, Sidharth Sharma, Suhail Khan, Sumit Kumar, Vansh Rakwal, and Sushant Singh Rajput.
The medalists of the District Jammu Taekwondo Championships will go on to represent District Jammu at the 27th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2024-25, a prestigious platform to showcase their skills at the state level.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of the Taekwondo Association of District Jammu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Secretary of the J&K Sports Council for their unwavering support and guidance, which has been pivotal in promoting Taekwondo and fostering young talent in the region.
The championship not only serves as a testament to the growing popularity of Taekwondo in the district but also reinforces the commitment of the association toward nurturing future champions.
