| Peerzada conducts surprise check of Jammu schools | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Apr 01- Minister for School Education and Public Enterprises Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has said that punctuality and dedication of teaching community is a prerequisite for acquainting students with modern techniques in education that exist presently at global level. He urged the teachers to make themselves cognizant about these techniques so that the student community is benefited in the long run and equipped to compete at higher levels. This was stated by the Minister during his surprise visit to various schools of Jammu city here today. Secretary, School Education, Mr. G. A. Peer, Director, School Education, Jammu, Zahida Khan and Chief Education Officer, Jammu accompanied the Minister. The Minister went around the school premises and took firsthand inspection of the school functioning. The schools inspected by the Minister include Girls’ Higher Secondary Schools at Bazar Qusaban, Rehari, Mubarak Mandi and Boys High School at Ghass Mandi, Jammu. He also took spot review of the ongoing Secondary School Examination centres at Rehari and Mubarak Mandi. While inspecting the schools, Peerzada issued directions for strict adherence to the directives issued by the government from time-to-time to improve the delivery mechanism in the education sector. The Minister also went round the classrooms, laboratories, libraries and computer labs of the institutions and interacted with the teachers as well as the students. He heard their demands and problems patiently, adding that efforts are on to upgrade infrastructure facilities in various educational institutions across the State. Asking the teaching community to abide by the instructions issued by the department for making the education sector vibrant, Peerzada said KG classes at elementary and secondary level should be establishing in all schools of the State and instructed for enrolling more and more children in government educational institutions. During his interaction with the teaching staff, the Minister directed that the dropout rate of various schools has to be brought down at any cost, for which Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation Procedure and play-way teaching methods should be adopted. Secretary, School Education, while interacting with the teachers, stressed upon them to work with sincerity and missionary spirit for bringing excellence in education sector, adding that various innovative measures are under way to make school education system more result-oriented. He also sought suggestions from the teaching community for improving the standard in education.
