Government Polytechnic Jammu organises annual road race

JAMMU, Nov 19: The Annual Road Race for boys and girls was organized by Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu under the guidance of worthy Principal Er. Arun Bangotra. The event was organised at M. A. Stadium Jammu in which students from all the ten branches of engineering and non-engineering took part. The boys competed in 5 kms race and girls have to run 3kms around the main stadium on the road. The road race was conducted by the panel of experts, who were technical officials of Athletics Federation of India.
The Prize distribution function was organised in the college campus in which Principal Er. Arun Bangotra was chief guest and Er. Inderjeet Singh, Workshop Superintendent was guest of honour. Principal lauded all the participants for their endeavours to particiapate in the road race requiring stamina, endurance and speed.
He extorted upon all the students to take part in Sports activities which will not only keep them fit but also mentally alert. He also stressed upon students that sports accolades/ certificates will further enhance their resume, to have edge over others in the job opportunities.
In the 5 km race for boys, the first position was a tough competition in which Ajay Singh, 5th sem student of Mechanical Engineering department stood first having chest finish over Koshik Saini of 3rd sem IT department who was 1st runner up and third position was secured by Rakesh Kumar 3rd sem of Travel and Tourism Department.
In the 3 km race for Girls Monika Devi 5th sem of IT department took the early lead and maintained the position till the completion of three lap race. The second position won by Tanshu Kumari 1st sem, Architecture Department and the third place was secured by Suhana Devi 1st sem, T&T department.
