| Vigilance traps Girdawar, Patwari in Udhampur | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 01- State Vigilance Organization today caught red-handed Swaram Singh, Girdawar and Vijay Kumar, Patwari Kothdi Tehsil and District Udhampur while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.5000 from the complainant for issuance of revenue documents. Rattan Singh son of Inder Singh of Kothdi Udhampur lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Commission alleging therein that one of his relative Naseeb Singh resident of Kothdi Udhampur intended to sell a piece of land measuring 2 kanals 8 marlas out of khasra No.161 at Kothdi. The complainant representing Naseeb Singh approached the then Patwari Swaram Singh for issuance of necessary revenue documents. Swaram Singh Patwari after accepting a bribe of Rs.1700 from the complainant issued false revenue documents of the said land. When the complainant came to know that Swaram Singh had issued false revenue documents, he again approached him by then he was promoted as Girdawar of the said Halqa and asked the complainant to approach the new Patwari Vijay Kumar for preparation of genuine revenue documents. Accordingly approached the present Patwari Vijay Kumar for issuance of genuine revenue documents in the month of February 2009 but till date he has not issued the same as has been demanding Rs.5000 as bribe, the complainant said. Upon this the Vigilance Organization registered a case and a team of the SVO caught red handed the accused Girdawar and Patwari during a trap and caught them red handed while accepting the bribe money. The tainted money was recovered from the possession of both the accused officials in presence of independent witnesses. Their hand wash tested positive. The accused were arrested for further investigation, a Vigilance report said.
