GDC Kathua Observes NCC Day

Kathua, Nov 23: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) units of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua celebrated NCC Day 2024 with a series of impactful activities, highlighting the spirit of patriotism, service, and social responsibility. The event, conducted under the patronage of Principal Prof. Seema Mir, was organized by Chief Training Officer (CTO) Ajay Sharma (1 J&K Naval Unit), CTO Dr. Pinkey (2 J&K Girls Battalion), and Lt. Dr. Daya Ram (ANO, 4 J&K NCC Battalion Jammu). The celebration commenced with a formal Rank Ceremony, where five cadets were awarded prestigious ranks. Cadet Anamika Dogra was appointed Junior Under Officer (JUO), Cadet Pankaj Singh was honored with Senior Cadet Commander (SCC), and Cadets Rahul Singh Jasrotia, Surjeet Singh, and Vasu Dev Sharma were given the Cadet Commander (CC) rank. This ceremony marked a significant milestone in the cadets' NCC journey. Following the Rank Ceremony, an Awareness Rally on Blood Donation was held, symbolizing the cadets' commitment to social causes. The rally was flagged off by Prof. Sanjay Karlupia, HOD Geology, along with faculty members Prof. Ravinder Kour, Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. RK Manhas, Dr. Yash Paul Sharma, Dr. Ram Singh, Dr. Ashan Elahi, Dr. Kulbir Singh, and Prof. Arvind Kumar. The rally, which passed through Parshuram Chowk to the DC Office and returned along the same route, garnered significant attention and underscored the importance of blood donation in saving lives.
The event concluded with a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at Shaheed Capt. Sunil Choudhary Chowk, where the cadets and faculty members paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. This gesture highlighted the cadets' reverence for the country’s heroes and their commitment to national service.
Prof. Seema Mir, Principal of GDC Kathua, commended the NCC units for their dedication and emphasized the importance of blood donation in life-saving efforts. She praised the cadets for embodying the values of discipline, service, and patriotism promoted by the NCC.
The event left a lasting impression, fostering a spirit of patriotism and social responsibility among the participants and the local community.
