Handicrafts, Handloom Departments organise awareness camp

KISHTWAR, Nov 24: The Department of Handicrafts, in collaboration with the Handloom Department, organized a mega awareness camp at Trigam, Agral, aimed at empowering local artisans and raising awareness about different handicraft schemes offered by the Department. The event was led by the Assistant Director (AD) Handicrafts, Pardeep Shan, and the Assistant Handicrafts Training Officer (AHTO), Kuldeep Shan who informed the participants about the various schemes available under the Department.
They provided a detailed explanation of the processes involved in availing these schemes, emphasizing the benefits for local artisans.
Pamphlets outlining the Department's schemes were also distributed among the participants to ensure they had all necessary information.
During the camp, the Department observed significant potential among the participants in wheat straw weaving and knitting.
Recognizing this potential, the Department is committed to supporting and nurturing these crafts.
To foster the growth of these traditional crafts, the Department has committed to Facilitating the registration of interested participants and providing financial assistance to eligible artisans under the Financial Support Scheme, enabling them to establish their own units.
The Department of Handicrafts continues its efforts to support and promote local artisans, providing them with the necessary resources to expand and sustain their craft.
