REASI, Nov 24: Two publications on commercial floriculture and women empowerment through Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) were released by the dignitaries during the National Agriculture Summit-2024 and Kisan Mela which was held from 20-23th of November, 2024 at SKUAST-J. KVK Reasi is working under the dynamic stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. The event was enthusiastically attended by the farmers, scientists, FPOs, SHGs, NGOs etc. to discuss the agricultural and allied sectors innovations and solutions. Various technologies on agriculture and allied sectors were showcased during the mega event. Chief Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), Dr. Banarsi Lal thanked Director Extension, SKUAST-J for the encouragement, necessary guidelines and support. Director Extension congratulated KVK, Reasi for releasing the publication during the event and encouraged KVK, Reasi scientists for their efforts on serving the farming community. During the event progressive farmers of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi S. Gurdev Singh, Jyoti Devi, Anita Devi, Dalip Kumar and Tilak Raj were felicitated for taking a lead in the cultivation, product development and value addition of lemon grass and agricultural/horticultural crops during the ev ent. The awards were presented by the for their exceptional contribution and innovations in aromatic and medicinal plants agricultural/horticultural crops farming, Self Help Groups (SHGs) formation and value addition in agriculture. During the technical session on women's empowerment progressive woman farmer of KVK Reasi, Anita Devi spoke on role of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in rural women empowerment. She stressed on entrepreneurial skills and value addition in agriculture for rural women empowerment. These progressive farmers are inspiring the other farmers of the area for the cultivation of lemon grass, agricultural/ horticultural crops production, organic and natural farming, value addition in agriculture etc. KVK also showcased various technologies with major emphasis on organic and natural farming, value addition in agriculture, lemon grass farming
