GGM Science College organizes rally

JAMMU, Nov 25: GGM Science College, Jammu, under the aegis of its NSS Units, NCHORD Committee, and Department of Biotechnology, organized a rally advocating for a tobacco-free society. The initiative was aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and inspiring the community to adopt a healthier, tobacco-free lifestyle.
The rally was flagged off by the esteemed Principal of the college, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, who emphasized the critical need to combat the growing menace of tobacco addiction. Speaking at the event, Dr. Gupta highlighted the role of educational institutions in fostering social responsibility among students and encouraged them to be ambassadors of change.
The rally witnessed active participation from faculty, NSS volunteers, and students. Key figures who played a pivotal role in organizing the event included Dr. Rahul Kait and Dr. Neha Sharma, NSS Programme Officers, and Prof. Kiran Bala, Head of the Department of Biotechnology. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rahul Kait stressed the importance of community engagement in achieving the goal of a tobacco-free society, while Prof. Kiran Bala encouraged students to lead by example and educate others about the ill effects of tobacco use.
The rally commenced from the Old Hall of the college and traversed through significant areas of the city, including Jewel Chowk, before returning to the campus. Participants held placards with impactful messages such as "Say No to Tobacco," "Choose Health Over Tobacco," and "A Smoke-Free Generation Begins With Us."
