11/25/2024 11:08:02 PM
Early Times Report
HIRANAGAR, Nov 25: Rakesh Sharma, IAS, SDM Hiranagar, and Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Kathua, visited the Border Out Post (BOP) Maniyari in the Hiranagar Sector to encourage farmers to utilize unutilized land along the Indo-Pak border for wheat cultivation during the Rabi season 2024-25. During the visit, the officers interacted with farmers from Maniyari, Kadyala, and Gujnal villages, discussing strategies to bring more land under cultivation. Rakesh Sharma emphasized the significance of the initiative, announcing that 2,400 kanals of land, out of 6,000 kanals of unutilized land, would be cultivated for the first time at the Maniyari BOP. Sanjeev Rai Gupta assured full technical and logistical support for farmers, highlighting ongoing efforts in collaboration with revenue authorities to identify and assist landowners across the fence. BSF representative Ravindran, 2nd in Command at BOP Maniyari, pledged the BSF's full cooperation while advising farmers to avoid stubble burning and adhere to safety protocols during land preparation. This initiative builds on the success of the Rabi 2023-24 season, where 300 acres of border land were cultivated, generating approximately Rs. 90 lakh in revenue for 70 farmers.
