Poonch admin gears up for celebration of 'International Day of Persons with Disabilities'

POONCH, Nov 25: Arrangements for observing International day of persons with Disabilities were finalized here today in a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal .
The meeting laid thrust upon smooth and successful celebrations of the World Disability Day-2024 scheduled on December 3.
Arrangements were made for the different kinds of aids to be provided to special-abled persons, organization of cultural activities, medical camps, Ayush Camps, issuance of Disability Cards, blankets, and other related arrangements.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Medical Officer to hold a special medical camp on the day for issuance of UDID cards.
The meeting was informed that the main function would be held at Government Degree College Poonch. The College Principal was asked to make all necessary arrangements and decoration of the hall well in advance.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
He directed the concerned officers to put in place added efforts and make sure that all the arrangements for the smooth and successful celebrations of the day are put in place well in time.
