| NABARD sanction Rs. 410 crore to J&K under RIDF | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 2: The Chief General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), A. K. Mathur has advised that NABARD has sanctioned a loan of Rs. 342.43 crore to J&K government during the current financial year under RIDF- XIV for financing the new projects rural roads, bridges, drinking water schemes, flood protection works and irrigation projects in various district of the state. Mathur also said that NABARD has released an amount of Rs 410.64 crores during 2008-09 to the government for development of rural infrastructure in the state, and added that the cumulative amount sanctioned to the government by NABARD for development of infrastructure in the state work out of Rs. 2510.09 crore since 1995-96. The cumulative disbursement of loan under RIDF to the state stands at Rs. 1654.07 crore since inception. While laying emphasis on inclusive growth, he said NABARD has also extended financial support to NGOs for promotion of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state. Elaborating the role being played by NABARD in the holistic development state, he said that NABARD is playing a vital role in the revival of Short Term Cooperative Credit Structure and it has already conducted training programme for auditors of the Cooperation Department.
