Reasi police arrest 4 drug peddlers, recover heroin

REASI, Nov 26: Acting tough against drug trafficking and drug peddlers District Police Reasi apprehended four notorious drug peddlers and recovered 9.76 grams of heroin (Chitta) from their possession during a naka checking operation at Sula Naka.
At around 2200 hours, a vehicle I20, Registration No. JK20A-8100 coming from Katra towards Reasi was intercepted for routine inspection. Upon thorough checking, heroin was recovered from the occupants, identified as: 1. Anil Sharma, S/O Ram Parkash, R/O Nai basti, Reasi 2. Shubham Singh S/O Kartar Singh, R/O Kanjli, Reasi 3. Vivek Raina S/O Narian Dutt R/O Jyotipuram, Reasi 4. Kamal Kumar, S/O Om Parkash R/O Mari, Reasi.
A case, FIR No. 209/2024 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Reasi. Further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the arrested individuals.
The operation was meticulously planned and executed by SHO Reasi, Inspector Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs. Reasi, Sh. Neeraj Padyar (JKPS).
While briefing, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Paramvir Singh (JKPS), reiterated the commitment of the Reasi Police to eliminate the menace of drug abuse from the District. He emphasized the importance of community support in tackling this societal issue.
"We urge all citizens to join hands with the police in our anti-narcotics drive. Any information related to drug abuse or peddling can be shared on our dedicated anti-drug helping number, 9070907017. The identity of the informer will be kept confidential," SSP Reasi assured.
District Police Reasi remains resolute in its mission to safeguard the youth and ensure a drug-free society.
