| VOJ raids GMC Police post, arrests SI | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 02- In charge Police Post Government Medical College landed in Vigilance net after he was allegedly caught red handed, while accepting illegal gratification of Rupees 3500 allegedly taken from the complainant who reportedly runs vehicle parking in the Hospital premises. Informed sources identified the accused persons as Sub-Inspector Dhawaraka Nath in charge Police Post GMC. The accused, they said, was arrested red handed, while accepting a bribe of Rs.3500 from a man working in as a watch and ward of Vehicle parking of the Hospital, who had lodged a written compliant before the vigilance and crime organization. Sources told that on the receipt of the complaint that the officials of crime branch and vigilance raided the Police Post and caught SI red handed while accepting the bribe. The officials laid a trap and arrested the accused PP in charge, red handed, while accepting a bribe of 3500 from the complainant The Vigilance Organization also arrested Ghulam Khan Chowhan Forest Guard Baber Seer Pampore while accepting a bribe of 1500. Giving details a Vigilance spokesman said that Ashwani Kumar son of Bagwan Dass of Hari Singh Nagar Jammu lodged a written complaint with police Station VOJ alleging therein that Sub Inspector Incharge of Police Post Police Post Government Medical Hospital Jammu is demanding monthly bribe form him for allowing smooth business of his parking lot in the hospital premises, which has been taken on contract by his employer namely Pardeep Mahindroo. Last month the SI extorted Rs 2500 from him and has been harassing and threatening to stop the business of the complainant if he does not pay him illegal gratification every month regularly. The SI yesterday evening called the complainant to the police post and demanded Rs 3000 for the last month. When the complainant refused, he was allegedly manhandled by the SI for not paying the installment of the last month. The spokesman said that a case FIR No. 8/2009 P/S VOJ was registered and a team of SVO officials deputed to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. The accused Incharge Police Post was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.3000 from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from him in presence of independent witnesses. His hand wash tested positive. He was arrested for further investigation. The spokesman further said that in another case FIR No 13/2009 P/S VOK was registered on the complainant of Mohammad Ashraf son Ali Jan of Baber Seer Mandbal, Pampore alleging therein that the local Forest Guard did not allow him to extract stones from the near by jungle for construction of his house saying that the place was a demarcated forest. The forest guard however agreed to allow the extraction of the stones from the place only if his demand of payment of illegal gratification of Rs 7000 was met. A SVO team was deputed to the village along with the complainant and the forest guard was caught red handed while accepting the bribe at the stone extraction site in the village near Pampore in a successful trap. The tainted money was recovered from him in presence of independent witness. He too was taken into custody for further investigation, the spokesman added.
