Lecture on "Constitution of India: Making and Evolution"

UDHAMPUR, Nov 27: The Department of History and Political Science at Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, under the aegis of IQAC, organized a lecture on "Constitution of India: Making and Evolution" to commemorate Constitution Day 2024.
The event, conducted under the leadership of Principal Dr. Nalini Pathania, began with a floral tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, by the In-charge Principal and senior faculty members. Prof. Yash Paul, Head of the History Department, welcomed the attendees before introducing the resource person, Prof. Swarna Devi, Head of Political Science.
Prof. Swarna Devi elaborated on the significance of celebrating Constitution Day and explained in detail the process of formulating, adopting, enacting, and enforcing the Indian Constitution. She discussed its structure, the role of the Constituent Assembly, the drafting committee, and the various amendments made post-independence. Emphasizing the vitality of the Constitution, she highlighted its role in guiding the nation's development while upholding ideals like liberty, equality, fraternity, justice, and democracy. Following the lecture, a Q&A session was held, where students had their queries addressed by the resource person.e
In her speech, Dr. Indu Khajuria, I/C Principal, congratulated the organizing departments and faculty for conducting such an informative session. She encouraged further thought-provoking programs to enhance students' understanding of history and the Constitution, fostering patriotism.
The event, attended by around 130 students and faculty members, was successfully organized by Prof. Yash Paul, HOD of History, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tanveer Ahmad Lone, Department of Political Science.
