| CM inspects food-grain godowns, Super Passage of Ranbir Canal | | | Early Times report JAMMU, April 02 – Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah today inspected Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) godowns at warehouse here and took stock of the food-grain position and its quality being provided to the ration-holders in the Division. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for Industries & Commerce and CA&PD, Mr. S. S. Slathia and Secretary, CA&PD, Mr. K. B. Jandial. Explaining the day-to-day functioning of the godowns, Mr. Slathia informed the Chief Minister that the supply of rice, wheat and sugar received from Food Corporation of India (FCI) is being stocked in the godowns and distributed to various areas of the Division from here. He said the APL, BPL and Antodiya beneficiaries are also being supplied ration from these godowns. The Minister said there are five godowns with a capacity of 35,000 quintals. He emphasized the need for improving the conditions of godowns and construction of new modern godowns on the land available in the warehouse. Meanwhile, Chief Minister, along with Minister for Irrigation and PHE, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din also inspected the work on Super Passage of Ranbir Canal, near the banks of river Tawi. The Chief Minister was told that the old abandoned super passage was being improved and made functional. Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din explained to the Chief Minister the salient features of the work and the benefit it will accrue to the farmers.
