Early Times Report
GANDERBAL, Nov 27: Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, in collaboration with the Child Help Line (CHL), Pareesha, and the Special Cell for Women today organized an awareness camp at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Chattergul.
The event, themed 'Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat' (Child Marriage Free India), focused on addressing the causes and consequences of child marriage and emphasized measures to eradicate the practice.
The program began with a detailed session by the Sankalp Hub team, who discussed the root causes of child marriage, including poverty, gender inequality, and societal norms.
They highlighted the devastating impact of child marriage on education, health, and empowerment, and suggested actionable solutions such as community awareness, promoting education for girls, and strict enforcement of legal frameworks like the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.
Representatives from the Child Help Line (CHL) spoke about the 1098 helpline, a vital tool for reporting and addressing child marriage cases. They explained how the helpline works in collaboration with local authorities to intervene promptly and protect at-risk children.
Social worker from the Special Cell for Women shed light on the legal consequences of child marriage, emphasizing the importance of timely reporting and collective action in implementing the law. Superintendent from Pareesha encouraged active community participation and collaboration to create a child marriage-free society.
