Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 28: Additional Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) J&K Zone Rajesh Kumar on Thursday said that CRPF will continue to organise cricket tournaments in future and work with players of the valley to eradicate drug menace from the society.
The ADG said this on the side-lines of the final of the 2nd Edition of CRPF Cup T20 Cricket tournament which was played at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium Srinagar.
Kumar said that CRPF will work with players towards eradicating drug menace from the society. “Players have respect and status in the society, therefore, they along with CRPF will work together for eradicating drug menace,” he said. He said by organising such tournaments, the talented youth got a chance to improve so that they can compete on the state, national and International level of the game. “And hopefully could at least reach to the level of Indian Premier League (IPL) status”, he added.
Kumar said that youth of Kashmir did not get the proper platform to perform their talent as compared to other parts of the country.
He said the enthusiasm shown by the youth by participating in the tournament during the past two years, will be made more attractive from the next year.
“The incentives including the prize money and other gadgets, the CRPF is providing, would be enhanced from the next year so that the youth could fully prepare themselves to participate in the tournament”, the senior CRPF officer said.
He urged those who are associated with organising such cricket tournaments to permanently remain with the force and bring as much positivity as they can in the drive against the drug abuse.
