Gurukul students visit KVK Reasi

Reasi, Nov 28: Gurukul Public Higher Secondary, Reasi students visited here today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) and interacted with the KVK Reasi scientists on various agricultural innovations. The visit was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N.Triptahi and able guidance of Director Extension (DE), Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J.Chief Scientist Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal warmly welcomed the students and guided them on scientific agriculture.
While speaking during the technical session Dr. Banarsi spoke in detail on the commercial organic and natural farming. He also discussed the income and employment opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors. He also guided students on hydroponics technology, natural farming, spices cultivation, millets farming, poultry farming and said that students should avail the benefits of such types of useful programmes to upgrade their skills and knowledge. He stressed on entrepreneurship development in natural farming and discussed in detail on four pillars of natural farming. Dr. Arvinder also spoke during the programme.
He guided students on environmental health and stressed on soil health management practices. He also stressed on recycling of farm based resources. Ms. Madhu Bhat, co-ordinator of the visit and Mr. Vishal Sharma appreciated the efforts of KVK Reasi and asked the students to avail the benefits of such courses. Students visited the hydroponics unit, nano kitchen garden, natural farming unit, spices unit, crop cafeteria etc. established at KVK Reasi and they showed keen interest in the demonstrated technologies. An exhibition and video show on scientific farming were also arranged during the programme. Students also interacted with the scientists during the visit and asked various quarries which were answered by the officials in a satisfactorily way. The programme was assisted by Sh. Manohar Lal and and Sh. Mohd. Iqbal and concluded by Dr. Arvinder Kumar with the formal vote of thanks.
