GCW Gandhi Nagar Hosts Lecture on Indian Knowledge System

Jammu, Nov 29: Career Counselling Cell of PSPS Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar Jammu hosted an enlightening lecture on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) in Collaboration with Cluster University Jammu. delivered by Prof. Raj Nehru, the esteemed Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University .Dr Naveen Anand ,Dean Academic Affairs,Cluster University Jammu; Dr. Ran Vijay, Controller examinations, Cluster University Jammu., Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo,Principal. GCW Parade Ground;Dr.Rakesh Kumar Koul ,Principal GDC Marh Jammu were the Chief Guests for the same. The event aimed to deepen students’ understanding of India’s rich intellectual heritage and its relevance in contemporary times. The formal welcome was given by Dr.S.P. Sarswat, Principal PSPS Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar Jammu, who expressed his gratitude to Prof. Nehru for his thought-provoking title for the lecture and highlighted the significance of such events in fostering holistic education. He stated, “Understanding our roots is vital for building a future that blends tradition with modernity. That the lecture would provide our students with a fresh perspective on the wealth of knowledge inherent in Indian culture.” Key Highlights of the Event was Focus on Indian Knowledge System.Prof. Nehru provided an in-depth overview of the Indian Knowledge System, encompassing ancient sciences, philosophy, literature, and the cultural ethos that have shaped India’s identity. He highlighted how these systems have contributed to various fields like mathematics, medicine, architecture, and governance. He also deliberated upon Modern Relevance of IKS:During his lecture, Prof. Nehru emphasized the application of IKS in modern education and skill development. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from India’s intellectual traditions to innovate and adapt to global challenges.The session was highly interactive, with students and faculty engaging in discussions about integrating IKS with contemporary education and skill-building programs. Prof. Nehru also shared examples of successful applications of traditional knowledge in sustainable development and modern technology.Prof. Raj Nehru also inaugurated his new book I Am Shiva The Power of My Consciousness, The Lecture was attended by the Administration of Cluster University, Principals of different colleges of Cluster University and Jammu University, faculty members of different colleges , staff and students of PSPS Government College for Women. The programme was anchored by Dr Rippy Bawa, Assistant professor English .The official vote of thanks was delivered by Pf. Vijender Kumar,Assistant professor ,Sanskrit. Who concluded the event with wise saws that The lecture by Prof. Raj Nehru underscores the relevance of the Indian Knowledge System in today’s globalized world. GCW Gandhi Nagar’s initiative to host such events reflects its commitment to holistic education that values cultural heritage while preparing students for modern challenges.
