The event brought together artisans, craft enthusiasts, and dignitaries from across the globe to celebrate traditional and innovative crafts. Mrs. Kotwal’s recognition is a testament to her dedication to preserving and revitalizing crafts that are at risk of fading into obscurity. The award was presented by an esteemed panel of dignitaries, including Sh. Atal Dullo, Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir; Sh. Sa’ad Hani AL-Qaddumi, President of the World Crafts Council International; and Sh. Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary of the Industries & Commerce Department, J&K.
The ceremony highlighted the ongoing efforts to safeguard traditional crafts through innovation, underscoring the importance of artisans in both preserving cultural heritage and adapting to modern demands. The event also reaffirmed Srinagar’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Craft and Folk Art, further solidifying its position as a global hub for artisanal excellence.
