| Militant killed in Kupwara | | | Srinagar April 03 : Army and police claimed to have gunned down a militant in a joint operation near forest area at Zoni Rashi in Chopan Mohalla.
Official sources told NAK that a specific input, a joint column of Kupwara police and 16 Jat cordoned the area and launched a search operation in the forests of Zoni Rashi in Chopan Mohalla falling under the jurisdiction of police station Trehgam.
While the search was on to nab the suspected militants, troops came under heavy fire and in retaliation an unidentified militant was gunned down.
Security forces, however, managed to recovered the dead body of the suspected militant from the site of encounter. The identity of the militant was still not ascended.
