Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 30: The 41st Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists (IAVP) and the 15th Annual Meeting of the Indian College of Veterinary Pathologists (ICVP), along with a National Symposium on "Exploring Veterinary Pathology and Diagnostic Innovations in Animal and Poultry Disease Amidst Climatic Challenges," concluded today at SKUAST-Jammu. The event was organized by the Division of Veterinary Pathology at SKUAST-Jammu in collaboration with the IAVP and ICVP, coinciding with IAVP's Golden Jubilee year, marking its establishment in 1974.
Over 300 delegates from national and international repute participated in the three-day conference, which featured nine scientific sessions, including a special Golden Jubilee session. A total of 36 lead papers and 311 abstracts were presented, focusing on innovations in diagnostic tools, climate-related challenges, and strategies to mitigate emerging diseases in animals and poultry. The conference was further enriched by the contributions of three international experts from the USA.
Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu and President of IAVP, chaired the valedictory function, where he highlighted the importance of veterinary pathology in addressing emerging animal diseases, particularly in light of climate change. He emphasized the need for advanced diagnostic techniques and innovative solutions to manage the impact of climate-induced disease patterns on animal health and food security.
Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at SKUAST-Jammu, welcomed the delegates and thanked them for their contributions. Dr. G.A. Balasubramaniam, Secretary-General of IAVP, presented the IAVP report and announced various awards, while Dr. R.V.S. Pawaiya, Secretary of ICVP, shared updates on the organization's activities. Seven ICVP diplomates were honored at the event.
