AIIMS Jammu hosts first workshop

JAMMU, Nov 30: The Department of Forensic Medicine at AIIMS Jammu organized a groundbreaking workshop titled "After Crime, Scene Recreation and Training in Solving Firearm Death Investigation" aimed at equipping Jammu and Kashmir Police with advanced investigative skills. The workshop, held on November 29, 2024, focused on crime scene examination, evidence collection, and firearm death investigations.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director of AIIMS Jammu, and Prof. Dinesh Rao, Head of Forensic Medicine, with senior police officials Mr. Bharadwaj (SP) and Mr. Rominish Gupta (SSP) presiding over the session.
Over 100 police officers, including 20 DySPs, 25 Inspectors, and 60 Sub-Inspectors from Jammu, Samba, and Udhampur districts, participated in the workshop. Prof. Dinesh Rao conducted training on crime scene examination and evidence collection, explaining the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for investigating firearm deaths. A notable highlight was the practical recreation of the Kishtwar VDGs murder case, offering key insights into investigative methodologies.
This initiative reflects AIIMS Jammu's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthening the justice delivery system in the region.
