| Wage payment: SRTC employees extend dead line till April 13 | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu, April 03 : The dead line given to the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) by the employees for release of pending wages has been extended up to April 13. Earlier, the STRC Workers Union had threatened the state government that if their pending four months wages would not be released till April 3, employees would be forced to go on agitation. Chairman SRTC Workers Union, Sheikh Shakil Kouche informed News Agency of Kashmir that a general body meeting was held to revenue the situation. He said that a decision to extend the dead line till April 13 was taken to give extra time to the new Managing Director of SRTC Anup Kana. He said they have met new MD Anup Kana and he has sought some time for the release of pending salaries. In wake of MD’s assurance, employees decided to extend their dead line and to give him a period of 12 days. Reliable sources informed that new MD has been managed some resources to release one month’s salaries of the employees, who are continually suffering under the apathy of the SRTC administration and state government. Sources informed News of Agency of Kashmir that in a meeting held between the then Transport Minister Hakim Muhammad Yaseen and then Commissioner Secretary Transport Dalip Singh and the representative of the SRTC Workers Union on March 24, 2008 had agreed to release the pending salaries of the SRTC employees but it could not be done so far. Sources further said that during Governor’s rule in the state, Governor NN Vohra also met with the representatives of the SRTC union in the month of September 2008. After this meeting, Governor had issued instruction to implement the agreement reached between the employees and state government and to release the pending dues of the employees. However, even his order was not implemented by the concerned authorities
