Jammu, Dec 1: In a decisive action under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu Police thwarted three separate bovine smuggling attempts in the Nagrota sub-division. A team from Police Post Sidhra intercepted three vehicles at Naka Tawi Bridge, rescuing 25 bovines being transported illegally.
The vehicles involved include:
1. Canter (JK02DG/ 5387)
2. Mahindra (JK02CT/5899)
3. Mahindra (JK14K/3200)
The drivers managed to flee the scene, abandoning the vehicles.
The police rescued the animals and seized the vehicles involved.
Three FIRs have been registered at Police Station Nagrota under relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act:
• FIR No. 315/2024
• FIR No. 316/2024
• FIR No. 317/2024
Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the culprits.
The local community has commended the efforts of Jammu Police for their continued vigilance and strong measures against bovine smuggling in the region.
