Kathua police recovers heroin, two drug peddlers arrested

Kathua, Dec 1: Continuing its vigorous drive against drug trafficking under the #WarOnDrugs initiative, Kathua Police successfully apprehended two individuals involved in drug peddling and seized approximately 50 grams of heroin (Chitta)-like narcotics.
On December 1, a police team from Police Station Kathua, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs. Kathua and SHO PS Kathua, conducted routine naka checking in the jurisdiction of PS Kathua. During the operation, two suspects—Zakir Hussain, son of Noor Ahmed from Khawada, and Mohd. Kifayatullah, son of Mohd. Younis from Tehsil Bani, District Kathua—were found acting suspiciously and were subsequently apprehended.
Upon conducting a physical search, police recovered approximately 50 grams of heroin (Chitta) from the suspects' possession. Both individuals were arrested on the spot, and a case (FIR No. 384/2024) under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kathua. Further investigation is ongoing.
Kathua Police has called upon the local community to remain vigilant and assist in the fight against drug trafficking by reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities. Citizens can contact the police at 100 or 9858034100, ensuring their identity remains confidential.
