Indian Army organized coaching classes
12/1/2024 10:36:29 PM

early times report

Rajouri, Dec 1: Indian Army has always been at the forefront in propagating the importance of education among the Awam. As part of this initiative, the Indian Army at Samote organized coaching classes for Gujjar and Bakarwal children in the higher reaches and remote locations of Kesri Hill, Samote ,Rajouri from 7th September 2024 to 30th November 2024.
The seasonal migration of Dera begins with the onset of summer when the Gujjar and Bakarwals move to the higher reaches of the Pir Panjal Range in search of greener pastures for their livestock.
They typically stay there from April/May to October/November each year.
These families migrate with their livestock, referred to locally as Dera, including children. Due to this migratory pattern, the children are the prime sufferers, as they remain absent from school for six to eight months.
To address this challenge, the Indian Army at Samote organized coaching classes for these children in the higher reaches of the Pir Panjal Range.
These classes aimed to ensure that the children of Gujjar and Bakarwals do not suffer a loss in their education during the migratory season. Around 500 children benefited from this initiative, which ensured that they had access to education and regained interest in their studies.
The civil administration acknowledged this exceptional effort and expressed their appreciation for the wholehearted endeavors of the Indian Army. This initiative is expected to yield significant results and assist these young children in their pursuit of a brighter and better future in today’s competitive world.
