Kathua, Dec 1: An incident unfolded in Kathua when local residents apprehended two thieves and handed them over to the police. However, during their transport to the police station thieves attempted to escape, launching a violent attack on the police officers with a sharp-edged weapon.
In the ensuing struggle, Police Constable Rajinder Kumar was seriously injured and sustained wounds from the attack. Despite the assault, the police managed to arrest one of the thieves, while the other fled the scene.
The injured officer was quickly rushed to the hospital for treatment and is currently receiving medical attention.
When contacted, Station House Officer Kathua, Ajay Singh Chib told Early Times that our party was shifting some suspects from the Hatli police post to Kathua. “During transportation suspects attacked the police team in which one of our constable’s sustained injuries.”
The SHO said that one suspect fled while the other was nabbed. “Hunt has been launched to arrest his accomplice,” he added. |
