SHIMLA, Dec 2: SJVN's flagship 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS), has achieved a significant milestone in Design Energy generation. On 1st December 2024, NJHPS achieved its design energy generation of 6612 million units. This is the second fastest design energy generation since the fastest ever design energy generation record set on 19th November 2011.
This extraordinary milestone has been achieved in eight months of the current fiscal 2024-25. The Power Station operated at 1650 MW capacity as a result of 110% plant overloading for 116 days. Also, the Power Station continued to operate without a single shutdown, even amid high silt levels in river Satluj demonstrating unparalleled efficiency and operational excellence. This record-breaking achievement is a testament to NJHPS's technical expertise, consistent performance and operational excellence. The accomplishment also demonstrates that NJHPS is consistently enhancing its technical capabilities and is progressing towards achieving even greater power generation benchmarks in the future.
SJVN attributed this success to the unwavering dedication and exceptional teamwork of all SJVNites especially Team NJHPS under the guidance of SJVN's Management and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Power, Government of India, Government of Himachal Pradesh, local administration, local populace and all stakeholders for their continuous support.
Such achievements highlight the potential of India's hydroelectric projects in harnessing their capacity efficiently, contributing significantly to the nation's energy self-reliance and sustainability goals.
