| Lila Karan lambastes successive govts for adopting anti-farmer, anti SC policies | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 3- Lambasting the successive state governments for their anti-farmer and anti SC policies, the BJP candidate from Jammu-Poonch constituency Lila Karan Sharma while addressing series of public meetings at Amb, Raipur, Bhalwal, Sobka, Malpur, Marjali, Mishriwala, Domana, Ban Talab, Paloura and Muthi areas of the Raipur-Domana assembly constituency along with MLA Bharat Bhushan Bodhi has said that even after over 60 years of independence, the farmers and SCs in the state still living below poverty line. The farmers living in kandi areas do not get timely supply of water for irrigation, besides fertilizers and seeds, he said. They have to depend on rains for water and in event of any natural calamity, their crops get destroyed. As there is no provision of Crop insurance scheme, the poor farmers have to bear financial losses. He said although a number of welfare schemes for SCs have been launched but the benefits have not reached the deserving people. Only influential people avail these schemes. How much concerned the state as well as the union government is towards the SCs is also clear from the fact that these people who are in majority among the refugees from West Pakistan have not been granted citizenship right even after decades of independence. Lila Karan said that the rural areas in the state, Jammu province in particular, lack proper educational and health-care facilities, proper road connectivity. He said the sitting MP from Jammu-Poonch needs to explain the voters as to why he should be repeated when he has done nothing for the rural areas. He said the voters have tested the Congress and now they should give a chance to the BJP candidate assuring that he will work for them honestly and with commitment. The meetings were also addressed by State Secretary Yudhvir Sethi, District president Col. Uttam Singh, JMC Corporators Omi Khajuria, Sheela Handoo and Manohar Lal Bhagat, local leaders Ram Lal Sharma, Sukhdev Singh and Joginder Singh.
