| Why there is a lull in Ladakh region over LS elections? | | | Navreet Milton Leh, Apr 3- Present lull in the Ladakh region over the nomination of candidates by various political parties seems to be an indication of great upheaval in the political circles. Congress and National Conference have not so far decided about the right candidate. It may be possible that the main parties Congress and National Congress are considering the option of entirely new face in thisLok Sabha elections. All the political players are either out of the town to decide future course of action or not coming out openly to comment on the candidates. When asked about it a veteran Congress leader and former member Parliament, Haji Mohammed Hassan Commander about his contesting this Lok Sabha Elections he said that he would contest only if the party asks for it, since he is holding the post of regional president of Ladakh which is a constraint and not appropriate even to think on this but yes, if the party wants then I will not say no. He further disclosed that since last sixty years there has been no Muslim candidate being given the mandate or ticket and he mentioned that he has forwarded a letter to UPA chair person Sonia Gandhi asking her to nominate a Muslim candidate considering the plea of community. He further hoped that if a Muslim candidate gets a mandate his party would make all possible efforts to get the candidate elected. Commenting on the ongoing political scenario he said that if a mandate is given to a Budhist in Leh then it is likely that Kargil people (Congress supporters) will not vote the Budhist , showing their anger for not giving the mandate to a Muslim form either of the districts. There is a speculation that if a mandate is given to a candidate from Kargil chances of his or her winning stands bright. It will be worth mentioning the opinion of general public who prefer if a mandate is given to a candidate who is moderate, wise, exposed, educated and could really work for the upliftment of this region.
