Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 2: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday reiterated his call asking Kashmiri Pandits to return to the Valley.
Talking to reporters here, Dr Farooq said, “Who is stopping Kashmiri Pandits from coming back? Every political party has said they should return. It is their decision when they want to return. Our hearts are open for them.”
The NC president, who recently returned to Kashmir after performing Umrah, said that even when he was the chief minister and the situation was bad, he tried his best to bring the Kashmir Pandits back.
Its in place to mention here that Kashmir Pandits had fled the Valley in 1990 when the Pakistan sponsored terrorism broke out.
Terrorists at the behest of the neighbouring country carried out selective killings of KPs and indulged in other human rights violations forcing the members of the minority community to leav
It is their decision when they want to return. Our hearts are open for them.
Kashmir Pandits had fled the Valley in 1990 after terrorists carried out selective killings.
When terrorism broke out in Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah was at the helm of affairs.
Terrorists and the separatists sponsored by Pakistan ensured that KPs stay away from Kashmir
everything behind and run away to save their lives.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “When terrorism broke out in Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah was at the helm of affairs. He resigned soon after the gun-toting terrorists appeared on the streets of Srinagar. He was witness to the atrocities that KPs faced at the hands of terrorists.”
He said, “There is no doubt about the fact that every political party including National Conference, till date has issued numerous statements seeking return of KPs but nothing has materialized on the ground. Terrorists and the separatists sponsored by Pakistan ensured that KPs stay away from Kashmir.”
“Dr Farooq Abdullah once again extending invitation to KPs to return is a welcome move but statements need to be translated into a reality. Return of KPs needs to be facilitated and for it all the stakeholders need to take concrete steps. Statements only can’t bring them back ,” the analyst added.
