Udhampur, Dec 3: A tragic road accident on Dhar Road near GMC Udhampur claimed the life of one person and left two others critically injured . The accident occurred when a scooty (registration number JK14D-7121) collided head-on with an Eco car (registration number JK14J-6794).
Ajay Kumar Gupta, who was riding the scooty with his wife, Uma Devi, and daughter, Kavia, succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Uma Devi, critically injured, was rushed to GMC Udhampur for treatment. Their daughter, Kavia, who sustained a severe head injury, was later referred to GMC Jammu for advanced medical care.
According to local residents, the Eco car driver was reportedly driving rashly and on the wrong side of the road, leading to the fatal collision. Eyewitnesses expressed their anger and grief, urging the authorities to take strict action against reckless drivers to prevent such incidents.
“This reckless driving has taken an innocent life and left a family shattered,” said one local resident. “It is high time the authorities act firmly against those who endanger others on the road.”
The police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances of the crash and to hold the responsible party accountable.
This tragic accident has left the community grieving the loss of Ajay Kumar Gupta while also sparking a conversation about the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws. Locals are demanding immediate steps to curb rash driving and ensure road safety to prevent further loss of life.
