Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Dec 3: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Rural Development Department in the Conference Hall, DC Office. The meeting focused on evaluating the block-wise progress of key schemes and initiatives under the department.
Reviewing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The Deputy Commissioner assessed the status of Person-Days (PDs) generated, release of wages & payments, and geo-tagging reports for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of executed works. He also assessed the status of Aadhaar-linked active workers. The progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and the AWAS Plus scheme was also scrutinized thoroughly.
Stress was laid on meeting the set targets of Person-Days generation under MGNREGA and prioritizing works related to augmentation of irrigation, watershed management, and contour bunding, while ensuring convergence with other departments for impactful results. Officials were instructed to identify and execute all those works permissible under MGNREGA. In light of the approaching winter, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to expedite work in blocks which experience snowfall, ensuring both progress and quality. Low-performing blocks were urged to increase the output. He further asked for action against Gram Rozgar Sevaks (GRSs) with poor performance.
Furthermore, the DC highlighted the importance of updating Panchayat electoral rolls and verifying the Panchayat-wise status to ensure accurate records.
The Deputy Commissioner called upon the department to adopt a proactive approach to improve overall performance and achieve development goals within stipulated timelines.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Raj Kumar Thapa, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats (ACP) Sheraz Ahmed and Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Vijay Kumar, along with Block Development Officers (BDOs) and other concerned officials.
