District Level Monitoring Committee assesses working of FPOs

POONCH, Dec 3: District Level Monitoring Committee (D MC) meeting for formation and promotion of Farmer Producers Organization (FPO) under Centre Sector Scheme (CSS) met here today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Vikas Kundal. The meeting was convened to monitor and review the functioning of FPOs in the district.
District Development Manager NABARD, the Convenor of the D-MC, informed the chair about the support being provided to the FPOs implementing agencies that are providing support to these FPOs.
The DDM NABARD informed the chair that a total of 13 FPOs have been promoted in the District, one of these registered under NRLM in the Mankote block.
The DDC took a detailed review of the FPO promoted under NRLM and advised the latter to encourage diversification of activities in potential trades. Inquiring about the trade licences provided to the FPOs, he advised the Competent Authorities to ensure the saturation of the same within 30 days of receiving the application.
The chairman advised the banks to ensure the credit support to the FPOs within the prescribed timeline.
Others present in the meeting were Assistant Commissioner Development, Lead District Manager, Poonch, Chief Horticulture Officer, Poonch, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Poonch, Representatives from Banks and NRLM.
