MANDI GOBINDGARH, Dec 3: On the occasion of NCC Day, 58 cadets from Desh Bhagat University (DBU), representing the Army Wing, Air Wing, and Navy Wing, visited the Sant Amar Singh Ji Namdhari Old Age Home in Bassi Pathana and conducted a cleanliness drive in the area.
This noble initiative was carried out under the guidance of DBU's Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur.
The cadets were accompanied by Dr. Ajaypal Singh, DBU NCC Coordinator, and Gurjit Singh Pandher, CTO, as they engaged in meaningful interactions with the elderly residents. Chancellor's Advisor Dr. Virendra Singh and Vice President Dr. Harsh Sadawarti encouraged the cadets to actively participate in the program.
The visit began with a warm welcome from Mr. Sahil Raina, President of the Old Age Home, who shared the institution's journey, challenges, and achievements in providing care and comfort to the elderly. He also honored the DBU NCC Unit with a memento.
The cadets took a solemn pledge to always support and care for their parents and elders, ensuring they are never left alone. The initiative highlighted the values of respect and service towards the elderly.
Additionally, a cleanliness drive was conducted within and around the premises, promoting hygiene and environmental awareness.
On their return, the cadets were taken to Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, where they offered prayers and learned about the historical significance of the site.
Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur commended the cadets for their efforts and reaffirmed the university's commitment to fostering a sense of duty and social responsibility among youth.
