JAMMU, Dec 3: A remarkable moment of pride and inspiration unfolded at PSPS Govt. College for Women, Gandhinagar, as the Student Welfare Committee of the College hosted the prestigious Investiture Ceremony to honor and empower the newly elected student council . The event marked a new chapter in student leadership, celebrated in the presence of Dr. S.P.Sarswat, Principal of the College, senior faculty, parents, and students.
The ceremony commenced with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the beginning of enlightenment. The soulful strains of Saraswati Vandana followed, invoking the blessings of the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, and setting the tone for a meaningful and uplifting event.
The program proceeded with inspiring addresses by the Head Girl, the Vice-President, and the President, who shared their visions and aspirations for the student body, emphasizing unity, discipline, and collaborative growth. The speeches by Jeevika Misri and Ashpreet Kour resonated deeply with the audience, igniting a shared enthusiasm for the journey ahead.
In a moment of honor and pride, the presentation of sashes and badges to the newly appointed class representatives (CRs) and volunteers from semesters 1st , 3rd and 5th took the center stage. These symbols of responsibility were conferred by the esteemed Principal Sir, accompanied by the Deans, members of students welfare committee and proud parents, who beamed with joy and pride as their children stepped into their new roles.
The college's student council members were also adorned with their respective sashes and badges, a testament to their dedication and leadership. The symbolic torch of leadership was passed on to the new President Sanjeevani Bhardwaj by the outgoing president Arshpreet Kour in a gesture that highlighted the seamless continuity of responsibility, values, and aspirations.
The newly elected council members, took the oath of office, pledging to uphold the principles of integrity, inclusivity, and service to the college and its students.
The event also featured an empowering address by Principal Sir, who emphasized the importance of student leadership in shaping a vibrant academic and cultural environment. He urged the newly invested council to lead with empathy, accountability, and a forward-thinking mindset, inspiring them to be torchbearers of change and progress.
The Proceedings of the ceremony was conducted by Prof. Suman Bala and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks extended by Dr. Rabia Javed acknowledging the contributions of all stakeholders-faculty, parents, and students-who made the day a grand success. The event left an indelible mark on everyone present, celebrating not just individual achievements but also the collective spirit of the college community headed by Dr. Anjali Bhat, Dean Arts ; Dr. Meenakshi Bandral, Dean Sciences; Dr. Asha Bharti, Dean Commerce. It served as a vivid reminder that with great power comes great responsibility, and the future lies in capable, determined hands.
