Pahari forum appeals centre, state govt to redress long pending demands

Poonch, Apr 3: A meeting of Pahari Culture and Welfare Forum J&K in a meeting held at Poonch under the president ship of Kamaljeet Singh district president condemned the role of various political parties for ignoring the just and genuine demand of Pahari’s speaking people who are struggling for the last three decades for getting ‘ST’ status in their favour. In the meeting it was decided no further indiscrimination with the community shall be tolerated and present govt. healed by Umar Abdullah was reminded of its commitment made with the forum of granting ‘ST’ to Paharis and implementing the 11 point agenda in toto submitted by Sharafat Ali to chief minister sometime back.
Chairman, Sharafat Ali Khan described the ongoing struggle of Paharis in its right direction and hoped of positives results in near future. He said that with difficulties are being faced by the forum in delting the desired results. He criticized the lobbies at different levels for not playing their role honestly for the care of Paharis.
Speaking on the occasion Vijay Kocchhar from Rajouri, Mohd. Zaman Advocate, Raja Mohd, Abas Advocate, Taj Hussain Advocate, Zaki Haider Tehsil, Vijay Puri also spoke on the occasion.
They also appealed to the state and central govt. to immediately redress the long pending demands of the community of granting ‘ST’ status meanwhile the Pahari community was asked to remain united to achieve the long cherished demand. Later in the meeting a resolution was adopted by the various delegates in this contest
