Udhampur police rescue 14 bovines, arrest 3 smugglers

UDHAMPUR, Dec 3: In a major crackdown against bovine smuggling, Udhampur District Police rescued 14 bovines, arrested three smugglers, and seized three vehicles involved in separate smuggling attempts.
Police Station Udhampur:
A police team at Jakhani naka point intercepted a Mahindra Bolero (JK02BB-3061) and rescued four bovines. The vehicle was seized, and a case under relevant laws was registered.
Police Station Rehambal:
In a second operation, police rescued eight bovines and apprehended two smugglers:
Umar Hussain Doie (resident of Anantnag)
Mushtaq Ahmed (resident of Ramban)
Two vehicles used in the crime (JK21H-1983 and JK14H-6958) were seized, and separate FIRs were registered under relevant sections.
Police Post Damnote:
A third attempt was foiled when police arrested Balvinder Kumar (resident of Reasi), who was found transporting two bovines on foot without valid permission. An FIR (65/2024 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act) was lodged at Panchari Police Station.
The Udhampur Police reaffirm their dedication to curbing illegal activities and ensuring animal welfare through sustained vigilance and timely action.
