MAJALTA, Dec 4: In observance of World AIDS Day, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Majalta, in collaboration with the Health Department of Jammu and Kashmir, organized an awareness rally to promote HIV/AIDS education and prevention.
Sixty enthusiastic students from GDC Majalta participated, marching through the town with banners and placards carrying messages on HIV prevention, treatment, and the need to eliminate stigma and discrimination. The rally sparked meaningful conversations among the community, breaking the silence often surrounding HIV/AIDS.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shalini Sharma, Principal of GDC Majalta, who thanked the Health Department for their collaboration and praised the students for their dedication. "This rally showcases the commitment of our students to fostering a more informed and empathetic society," she said, stressing the importance of continued awareness campaigns to combat misinformation and stigma.
Observed globally on December 1, World AIDS Day serves as a reminder to honor those affected by HIV/AIDS and advocate for education and prevention. The rally in Majalta underscored the critical role of community initiatives in spreading awareness and creating a stigma-free environment.
