GDC Thannamandi organizes awareness programme

THANNAMANDI, Dec 5: The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with Career Counseling Cell of Government Degree College Thannamandi organized an awareness programme on mission Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan (YUVA), and celebrated International Volunteer Day as a part of Viksit Bharat Abhiyan @2047 here today.
On this occasion, a comprehensive awareness program on mission YUVA with special reference to project YUVA organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Farooq Ahmed, Principal of the College in which Dr. Ashaq Malik, Coordinator, IQAC was a resource person. Dr. Nazar Ul Islam and Mr. Anuj Bali coordinated the event.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Farooq Ahmed explicated the ambitious initiative of project YUVA launched by Jammu and Kashmir Government and various schemes launched under its aegis that are aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and generating employment opportunities for the youth. He lauded the scheme initiated by the Lieutenant Governor Shree Manoj Sinha and transmitted the knowledge about its career prospects among the students.
Dr. Ashaq Malik delivered an extension lecture on the job and volunteering opportunities, and future prospects at the United Nations. He discussed framework, structure, modalities and job avenues at UN and how young people, especially the college students can achieve such accomplishment through skill development and volunteerism. Dr Malik also deliberated upon the interplay between mission YUVA and volunteerism at national and international level. He also elaborated how YUVA can provide job opportunities and build an entrepreneur ecosystem in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and how youth can contribute effectively in nation building and sustainable development.
Earlier Anuj Bali introduced the audience about the YUVA and IIC whereas; Dr Nazar Ul Islam conducted proceedings of the programme. Dr Abdul Haque presented formal vote of thanks.
A large number of students and staff members' participated in this interactive programme. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Nazakat Hussain, Dr. Naseem Ahmed, Dr. Asif Aijaz Lone, Rakesh Puri, Prof. Altaf Hussain, Dr Gulshan Rashid Bhat, Dr. Goher Iqbal, Prof. Fatima Parveen, FDr Junaid Ahmad, Dr. Shiraz Ahmed, Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, Prof. Rumy Dar, Dr. Nagina Kouser, Prof. Rizwana Kosser, Dr. Mohd Shakoor, Dr. Showkat Ahmed and Sarfraz Ahmed, Dr Mudasir, Dr. Zubair, Dr. Mohd Arshaq, Dr. Salim Javaid and Dr. Atiq Ul Rehman.
