GDC RS Pura Botany Department hosts tree talk

RS PURA, Dec 5: The Department of Botany at Government Degree College (GDC) RS Pura organized a Tree Talk to celebrate World Soil Day under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour. Veteran Forest Officer O.P. Sharma Vidyarthi was invited as the keynote speaker to educate students on the significance of nature and natural resources. Dr. Rajinder Sharma, Head of the Botany Department, introduced Vidyarthi, who engaged the audience on the importance of healthy soil and sustainable soil management. He also highlighted the role of local plants in herbal medicine and ethnic cuisines, encouraging students to appreciate and conserve their natural surroundings.
The event saw active participation from a large number of students and faculty members, including Dr. Neeru Sawhney, Prof. Anju Kumari, Dr. Sudesh Kumar, Dr. Akriti Parihar, Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, Prof. Vijeeta Annand, Prof. Geetika Goswami, Prof. Sankait Gupta, and Prof. Shelly Kalsi.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour applauded the initiative, emphasizing the importance of such programs in enhancing students' awareness about nature and its conservation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Neeti Chhibber, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, guest speaker, faculty, and students for their enthusiastic participation.
