Indian Red Cross Society celebrates International Volunteer Day

JAMMU, Dec 5: The Indian Red Cross Society, J&K celebrated International Volunteer Day on 5th December, 2024 at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu and Govt. S.P. College, M.A. Road, Srinagar with a special event to honour its new volunteers who registered themselves as Red Cross members.
"International Volunteers Day is a time to reflect on the power of giving, to celebrate those who dedicate their time and energy to uplift others, and to inspire more of us to join this impactful journey."
Volunteering has been at the very heart of the Red Cross since its inception in 1920.Volunteers are the backbone of all Indian Red Cross activities, helping branches to run successful programmes and assisting millions of vulnerable people in need. IRCS rewards and recognizes volunteers whenever possible.
During the event, certificates of recognition were awarded to the students of Government Women Polytechnic College, Jammu, and students of S.P. College, Srinagar for their contribution in becoming volunteers and active members of the society. Along with that a mementoes were also presented to the colleges for their immense support. The ceremonies were graced by the presence of the General Secretary, IRCS, J&K, Rohit Khajuria at Jammu who applauded the students' commitment to humanitarian service and Sh. G.A. Querashi, Treasurer, IRCS, J&K at Srinagar. This initiative aims to encourage more individuals to join the noble cause of serving society through the Red Cross.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Rohit Khajuria Said, "On this International Volunteer Day, we come together to celebrate the spirit of selflessness and compassion that defines our volunteers. Their dedication to serving humanity inspires all and reminds the power of unity in building a better world. Today, we honor their contributions and pledge to continue supporting this noble journey".
Besides this, mementoes were also given to the staff members of Red Cross, J&K who has done good work during their service.
