| JKACCL celebrates 105 birth anniversary of K.L. Saigal | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages (JKACCL) celebrated birth anniversary of K.L. Saigal, the legendary singer and actor at K.L.Saigal Hall in which prominent singer of the region presented classical musical concert. Savita Bakshi additional secretary while speaking on the occasion, said Saigal had contributed a lot as music and silver screen presently known as Bollywood She said that Saigal established himself as singer and actor at the time when film culture was in its infant stage and it was a time of action movies. While recalling his early days she said Saigal, the son of the soil started its carrier as an actor taking part in Dewana Mandir Ram Lila, the most popular Ram Lila stage which has number of actors, artists in its credit which include famous comedian Om Parkash. Earlier, welcoming the guests and artist Shamima Akhtar, S.O.C.A said that cultural academy after naming this seminar hall in the name of K.L. Saigal, feels priviledged to celebrate the birth anniversary of the great son of the soil. She further said that Academy is going to organize Punjabi Mushaira tomorrow on 5th of April, at K.L. Saigal Hall to commemorate the 2nd death Anniversary of renowned Punjabi poet of the region Tilak Chand Tilak. Deepali Wattal, Mukteshi Sharma, Rakesh Kumar were the singes who sung in the classical music, concert and Ashutosh Magotra (Harmonium) Anil Koul (Tabla), Kulbhushan Sharma (Sitar), G.L. Sharma (Sarangi) were the accompanist. Anil Tickoo conducted the proceedings and also presented vote of thanks.
