| Indian Army Conducts Women Empowerment programme | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Dec 8: Keeping in view of Indian Army’s core objective of maintaining cordial relations with local citizens through Awam and to enhance the skill of girls and women for self-employment and better job opportunity in remote parts of Poonch, Indian Army conducted an event of ‘Distribution of Sewing Machine’ alongwith a lecture for spreading awareness amongst local populace about employment campaign/ various initiatives for employment by State and Central Govt, particularly for youth, young generation and women empowerment at village Pir Topa on 08 December 2024. A total strength of 90 including (40 Women, 25 Gents and 25 children) attended the event. Besides Distribution of Sewing Machines, the aim of the event was to interact & educate women and local populace about the various educational and scholarship schemes of Central Govt/ State Govt to address the problems of unemployment in our country. Representative of the Indian Army addressed locals and gave an insight on various initiatives of the Govt and actions being taken to slowly decrease the level of unemployment. Various initiatives have been launched to boost employment including skill development programmes, job fair and entrepreneurship with the following schemes: Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP), Drought Prone Area Programme (DPAP), Nehru Rozgar Yojana (NRY), Prime Minister’s Integrated Urban Poverty Eradication Programme (PMIUPEP). This gesture and effort by the Indian Army was highly appreciated by the AWAM. This endeavor by the Indian Army to reach out to the population residing in remote areas, where civil administration has limited accessibility, will go a long way in developing and strengthening trust between the Indian Army and AWAM. The event also served as a platform to strengthen the bond between Indian Army and the people of this region. It showcased Indian Army’s commitment towards service to the nation. |
