Akhnoor ex-Servicemen association honors senior veterans for their service

Akhnoor, Dec 8: The Akhnoor Ex-Servicemen Association held a special honoring ceremony for senior veterans in recognition of their contributions towards the welfare of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and widows. The meeting was chaired by Er. Lakhbir Singh, a Naval Veteran, and brought together a large gathering of ex-servicemen.
The veterans honored during the ceremony were Col (Retd) Bana Ram Sharma, Capt (Retd) Dev Raj, Harnam Singh, Dharam Singh, and Rameshwar Dutt. These individuals played a vital role in addressing the issues of ex-servicemen and their families. They were also instrumental in establishing the branch of Zila Sainik Board in Akhnoor, benefitting ex-servicemen and residents of far-flung areas.
While addressing the attendees, Er. Lakhbir Singh praised the contributions of these veterans and emphasized that their efforts would continue to inspire the present Ex-Servicemen Association to work towards solving the issues of the ex-servicemen community. He expressed gratitude for their leadership and guidance, while also urging the veterans to continue their association and support.
The Chairman also highlighted concerns such as controlling the rising drug menace and addressing daily traffic congestion in Akhnoor by constructing a new bypass road. His statement underscored the need for continued efforts to address pressing community issues.
Sub Maj (Retd) Mani Ram Bhagat conducted the meeting and provided a comprehensive report of the activities and events undertaken over the last month.
Prominent participants at the meeting included Capt Santosh Kumar, Bodh Raj, Kaka Ram, Gurmukh Singh, Raghbir Singh, Puran Chand, Romesh Chander, Choudhary Mal, Jugal Gupta, Gurdeep Singh, Karan Singh, Rajinder Singh, Banarsi Dass, and Tilak Raj.
The event was a token of gratitude for the senior veterans’ dedication, service, and leadership, which have paved the way for ex-servicemen’s rights and benefits in Akhnoor.
