Rs. 4.30 cr to be spent on Kakpora-Naina road
Charak conducts extensive tour of Budgam, Pulwama districts

Srinagar, September 22 – Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak conducted an extensive tour to various areas of twin districts of Pulwama and Budgam to take stock of the pace of progress on various roads and bridges under execution and also assess the damages to the roads and bridges due to recent floods.
The areas include Chadoora, Charar-i-Sharief, Pakherpora in district Budgam and Rehmoo, Kakpora, Lelhar, Banderpora of district Pulwama.
Mr. Charak took stock of the pace of macamadization work on 15 km long Kakpora-Padgampora-Naina road. An amount of Rs. 4.30 crore is being spent on the road under NABARD.
During his visit the Minister was apprised by the Chief Engineer R&B that the recent flood has damaged various roads and bridges in Pulwama district. These include Pulwama-Newa road, Awantipora-Tral road, Gouripora-Vandakpora road and litter-Wachi road besides Rehmoo-Pakharpora bridge and Gadoora bridge.
The bridge under construction at chadoora over Nallah Doodganga would be completed at the cost of Rs. 3.50 crore. The work on the bridge has been left half way by the contractor. The Minister directed the Chief Engineer that if contractor could not resume the work on the bridge, the construction of the bridge should be got completed by JKPCC and concerned contractor be blacklisted.
The Minister was informed that one kilometer long Lelhar-Hajibal road has been completed under PMGYS scheme at a cost of Rs. 44.33 lakh in double shift.
At Pakherpora, the Minister ordered that the work on Pakharpora road be taken up immediately and work on the causeway in Rehmoo area be completed soon, which was washed away by recent floods.
At Charar-i-Sharief and Pakharpora Mr. Charak also paid obeisance at the ziarats
Mr. charak urged the engineers to maintain standard of work by utilizing the standard material as per specification fixed by the government.
The Minister was accompanied by Chief Engineer R&B, Kashmir, Executive Engineer Chadoora and Executive Engineer, Pulwama and other officers of the R&B.
