| Govt working on hidden agenda to shift proposed CU to Kashmir, alleges JSM | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 4- Jammu State Morcha (P) at a meeting held the under the chairmanship of its President Prof Virender Gupta has strongly criticized the state government for adopting dilly dally tactics in the matter of opening of Central University in Jammu and working for the hidden agenda to shift the proposed university to Kashmir province. The Morcha said that Government of India has identified Jammu Province for the Central University whereas Indian Institute of Management is to be opened in Kashmir Valley. The Vice Chancellor appointed for the Central University, Prof. Abdul Vahid has written to the Chief Minister and Governor of the state to expedite the matter of selection of site for the Central University. But the Government has kept mysterious silence on the issue, whereas about 6000 Kanal of land in Samba district has been identified for the purpose that is waiting clearance from the State Government. JSM (P) demanded that necessary orders allocating 6000 Kanals of land in Samba for the construction of university campus be immediately issued and doubts in the minds of Jammuites about shifting of proposed university to Kashmir Valley be cleared. The Morcha has also asked the other political parties and their respective candidates contesting parliamentary elections from Jammu-Poonch and Kathua- Udhampur constituencies to clear their stand on the issue. In the meeting it was also demanded that Jammu Medical College be given the status of an Autonomous Post Graduate Medical Institute at par with the All India Medical Institute of Delhi or PGI, Chandigarh and necessary infrastructure be created for that purpose. The meeting also took serious note of the extreme slow progress in constructing the Government Engineering College building. The meeting among others was attended by Abdul Rauf Ganai, H.B.Khajuria, Dig Vijay Singh, Capt. Anil Gour ( Retd ), Swarn Sharma, Devinder Singh, Chandra Uday Sharma, M.M. Munshi, N.R. Gupta and Umesh Sharma.
